EDEN provides specialist and targeted support for pupils with an EHCP, where the primary focus is Social Emotional and Mental Health. At Norham High school we understand that some young people experience a range of challenges that can affect their learning and ability to Thrive within school. These needs can manifest in a variety of ways, including difficulties with self-regulation, social interaction and communication. It is essential that these needs are recognised and supported appropriately in order to help young people to achieve their full potential.
EDEN opened its doors in September 2024 offering a KS3 full time curriculum offer, which is academic, therapeutic and vocational. Class sizes are small meaning there is a higher staff-to-student ratio, allowing for more individualised support.
Our provision empowers pupils to:
Break down barriers to accessing education, inspiring pupils to pursue their ambitions and unlock their full potential
Create positive and meaningful relationships with teaching and support staff which in turn lead to positive social outcomes
Have high expectations around behaviour and attainment which is safe and relaxed allowing for confidence to be built and positive choices to be made in a calm and nurturing environment
Build meaningful relationships with one another through participation and collaboration leading to positive social outcomes - this will make pupils feel valued as individuals

Our curriculum offer
Our SEMH curriculum is designed to offer a balanced and inclusive educational experience that follows a mainstream curriculum, while being thoughtfully adapted to meet the unique needs of our pupils.
In addition to core subjects, we provide a range of therapeutic and vocational options such as:
Animal care
Horticulture
Thrive
Duke of Edinburgh
Creative arts
These subjects are tailored to promote self-esteem, wellbeing and life skills. Helping students to develop resilience, independence and a sense of achievement. Through this diverse offer, we aim to nurture students' emotional growth, encourage engagement with learning and prepare them for further education and work.
In addition, pupils visit The Meadows every fortnight. This is an Alternative Education Provision that offers a safe and supportive environment, where young people can rebuild their confidence and develop valuable, practical skills.
Break and lunch support
At Norham High School, we recognise that breaks and lunchtimes can be challenging for some students. To provide additional support, we offer dedicated assistance for our ARP pupils during these times, ensuring they feel supported and included.
Pupils also have the opportunity to access a range of active lunch sessions across the main site, alongside our Thrive room.
Specialist staff
We have a team of specialist staff, including our in-house counsellor, school nurse, Thrive practitioners and special support assistants. In addition, we collaborate with a variety of external agencies to provide the best possible support for our pupils.
